José Forjaz
Mozambican, graduated in architecture at the School of Fine Arts in Porto, Portugal in 1966, Master of Science in Architecture at Columbia University, New York, in 1968. Professor Emeritus at the Architecture and Physical Planning School at Eduardo Mondlane University, Maputo, Mozambique.
José Forjaz has a Masters in Architecture and Urban Planning from Columbia University, and a Diploma in Architecture with distinction from the Porto School of Fine Arts. His main areas of specialization include architecture, urban and regional planning, environment, legislation and training.
Forjaz has over 50 years of experience in architectural project development, having designed and constructed over 400 buildings and over 40 years of working experience in Mozambique. He also has experience in research, policy formulation, urban and territorial planning at the municipal, district, provincial and central levels. Forjaz also has relevant experience in the development of territorial planning instruments: structural plans, district plans and detailed plans for cities and towns (Villages) in Mozambique. As Dean of the Architecture and Physical Planning School at Eduardo Mondlane University, he has long experience in training local authority personnel. He has an excellent knowledge of several languages, including English, and has excellent writing experience.
